A 41-year-old employee of the Autonomous Water and Sewage Service (Saae) in São Carlos (SP) was murdered by a co-worker this Wednesday morning (22). The suspect fled after the crime.

The case took place on Rua George Ptak, in Jardim São Paulo, close to the autonomy unit. Initially, the city hall reported that the crime happened inside the unit, but later corrected the information.

According to the city hall, the suspect in the crime, Milton César Magalhães, 44, waited for the arrival of the victim, Iebil Garcia Silva, 41, who was on a motorcycle, and threw the backhoe at him.

Silva lost control, hit a car, fell and the suspect drove the backhoe over the body and fled.

The dead employee has been a Saae driver since 2009. Magalhães has also been a Saae heavy machine operator since 2009. He is on the run. The motivation of crime is still unknown.

In a note, the city hall regretted what happened and said that the municipal authority is providing assistance to the victim’s family, as well as collaborating with police investigations. (See below for full placement).

Fight in 2014


According to the investigation, the criminal and the victim belonged to the same sector of the municipality, but did not work together.

Saae reported that, in 2014, a fight was recorded between the two employees in the external parking lot of the municipality. An internal inquiry was opened and the two were punished with 30 days of suspension. The reason for the fight was not disclosed.

The Military Police were called to register the case that will be investigated by the Civil Police.

In the first note released, Saae regretted what happened and reported that it is providing assistance to the victim’s family. Later, the municipality corrected the crime scene and spoke about the fight that occurred in 2014 between the two employees. See below:

Unlike what was said in the previous note, SAAE São Carlos clarifies that the death of an employee by another did not occur inside the unit of the autarchy, but in the vicinity, on Rua George Ptak, in Jardim São Paulo. Updated information shows that the perpetrator of the crime waited for the arrival of the victim who was on a motorcycle and threw the backhoe on top of him. He lost control, hit a car, fell and that’s when the accused drove the excavator over the body and fled.

The dead employee is Iebil Garcia Silva, 41 years old, SAAE driver since 2009. The employee killed is Milton César Magalhães, 44 years old, SAAE heavy machine operator since 2009. He’s on the run.

The backhoe was found early this morning by the Municipal Guard near the Educational School.
